Combat

A huge aspect of the SCA is the broad range of pre 17th century martial activities that are practised within the society. The skills and knowledge to practise these forms have been collected from ancient scripts, manuals, and imagery, but has a strong foundation in training and practising these skills in real-time. None of our marital activities are choreographed, and participation and skill comes from active participation and practise.

Formal schools of combat in the SCA include armoured combat, renaissance fencing, archery. and equestrian. Occasionally other classes are taught, like wrestling or self defence, however this tends to be practised in occasional classes at larger scale events on request.
