July brings cold weather & with it, war! Not to the Barony of Krae Glas, but to our dear College of Saint Monica who are hosting this year’s Inter-College War & are calling for the Baronial populace to come support them!
Marshals, archers & fighters (both heavy & rapier) are invited to come join the war, but those who are less prone to violence are also encouraged to come teach classes & join in the merriment! Inter-College War will be held at Treetops Scout Camp and Activity Centre in Riddells Creek from Friday the 17th to Monday the 20th of July. Bookings close Friday the 3rd of July.
Unfortunately, Fibre Guild will be skipping our usual meeting this month, but our weekly Thursday Night Gathering & Training will otherwise run as normal. Join us for both heavy & rapier training (or just come for a chat!) from 7pm every week at the Dolphin’s Keep (24 Mons Parade, Noble Park) on the 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd & 30th!
As we still have some supplies left, we will be making more arrows this Crafthall (Fletching) + Potluck! From 2pm on Saturday the 11th (also at the Dolphin’s Keep), Sorcha will be running a Fletching class to coach you through making a combat-legal arrow. If you have all the arrows you need (or don’t need any yet, but are still curious to learn), we will also be making some arrows for the Barony’s armory & extra helpers are very much appreciated!
Materials to make combat-legal arrows will be provided at a cost of $10 per arrow made. If you wish to bring your own supplies, you will need (for each arrow) a cedar shaft, a nock, three fletches, tape and a combat blunt. If you are able to bring a fletching jig, that would be useful as well.
As always, there will be a community Potluck for dinner afterwards (around 5-6pm or when dinner is ready), so please bring a contribution for that.
On Sunday the 12th Barony of Stormhold, will be hosting their first Archery Training for the year at Noble Park Secondary College from 1-4pm. This will be an inanimate-target only (sharps-friendly) training & has been moved a week earlier than usual so as not to clash with InterCollege War. As always, there are plenty of bows, arrows & so on available for archery newcomers to borrow at no extra cost!
Our monthly Council meeting will be held via Zoom on Tuesday the 14th. Zoom details will be released closer to the date.
