The year may be drawing to an end, but here in Krae Glas, we are not done yet!
Instead of our usual Crafthall, from 2pm on the 9th we will be hosting a Saturnalia event at the Dolphin’s Keep (24 Mons Parade, Noble Park)! This event is based on the ancient Roman winter festival which venerated the god Saturn. Saturnalia was a time for revelry, where societal rules were temporarily disregarded, and roles in society reversed.
In honour of the Roman tradition, there will be a craft station for making things for gift giving, a king of shenanigans, and (fake) gambling with sweets. There will be awarded a ‘Saturnalicius Princeps’, who presides over the shenanigans at the event, as was done in the Roman Empire. Princeps-hopefuls will need to book in advance!
Dinner will be a potluck, so please bring a contribution to the meal (Roman themed food is highly encouraged). This is a garbed event, so please wear your best attempt at pre-17th Century attire (ancient world clothing recommended if possible). If you do not have anything to wear, please reach out to our friendly chatelaine (newcomer-helper) Bermund at chatelaine@kraeglas.lochac.sca.org so he can help organise something for you to borrow.
Our Thursday Night Gathering & Training will run as usual every week – except Christmas day (& New Year’s Day)! Come along to the Dolphin’s Keep from 7pm on the 4th, 11th & 18th for both rapier & heavy fighting, as well casual arts & sciences or even just to socialise. As always, everyone is welcome to attend, with no bookings or garb needed.
Our last Council meeting for the year will be held via Zoom at 7:30pm on Tuesday the 16th. Zoom details will be released closer to the meeting.
